• Ensure compliance with sound internal auditing principles and best practices and seek guidance from the standards issued by international standard setting bodies.
• Ensure due professional care in carrying out audit assignments and maintain integrity and objectivity.
• Formulate an annual audit plan in consultation with the Audit Committee and for the purpose maintain Audit Universe covering the main auditable units and Risks Assessment Criteria for selection of audit projects in the planned activity.
• Implement the annual audit plan along with any special tasks or projects entrusted by the Board of Directors through its Regulations or Resolutions, assigned by Audit Committee or requested by Chairman PNSC or considered necessary by Chief Internal Auditor himself due to exigency of circumstances.
• Render reports on the audit’s findings and conclusions to the concerned departments/divisions, which shall timely respond along with details of actions taken or planned in regard to specific findings and recommendations in the internal audit communications.
• Submit periodical reports to the Audit Committee summarizing results of audit activities. Also keep Chairman, PNSC and Audit Committee abreast with the important findings and recommendations of audit undertaken from time to time.
• Undertake consulting services when required by Chairman, PNSC provided such services do not impair the independence of the internal audit function and functional control of the Audit Committee.
• Assist in the investigation of significant suspected fraudulent activities where so required and notify the results to Chairman PNSC and Audit Committee.
• Handle the documents and information given to IAD by other departments in the same prudent manner as by those employees normally accountable for them.
• Make internal audit reports available to external auditors as and when demanded and inform the Audit Committee about the same.
